White Oak
White Oak has been recorded at growing over 130 feet tall. The record width for Pennsylvanian White Oak was just over 22 feet! White Oak can live upwards of 300 years and contributes, along with other Oak trees, to over 50% of Pennsylvania forests. To identify a White Oak, the best means is to look at the leaves, which are rounded on their ends. A close relative, the Northern Red Oak, has similar leaves, but the ends of its lobes are pointed. Along with this, the White Oak produces a shorter, wider acorn, as opposed to the Northern Red Oak's elongated acorn.
