Eastern White Pine

The Eastern White Pine currently owns the record for the tallest tree in Pennsylvania, standing over 170 feet tall! Pine is a fast-growing tree, with growth rates near 2 feet per year and a lifespan above 200 years on average. Eastern White Pine is not known for being a hardwood, which means the process of crafting with them requires extra care in the finishing stages to ensure a durable exterior. A fast-growing tree will often have large, open grain patterns, whereas a slow growing tree will have very tight grain. Overall, any tree that bares needles is assumedly a softwood in terms of crafting furniture but can be made durable with the proper finish.
